This page covers the development of my skill of 3D Modelling using the Blender 3D software.
Unfortunately, some earlier creations are missing due to file corruptions!
The Early Days:
This section shows my creations from before I took my Games Design Course.
All of the creations below were made from thing's that I self-learnt and from looking at documentation.
This displays my prior knowledge to any official teaching on 3D modelling.
Challenges I faced in the early days usually were:
- Not understanding how certain things worked in blender.
- Not being able to optimize my creations in blender.
- Not being able to identify modifiers that I needed.
- Lack of self-confidence for my modelling ability.

Edges - 138,063
Faces - 67.992
Triangles - 140,130
This was my first time I created an asset pack.
Whilst it was one of the earliest things I created, I actually have a sweet spot for it as I am proud of some of these assets :)
Pirate Asset Pack:
An asset pack entirely based on Pirates.
Includes:
- Sabre Sword
- Dagger
- Shields
- Bomb
- Telescope
- Cannon
- Musket
- Gold Bar
- Coin
- Lantern
- Grave Stone
- Ship Helm
- Barrel
- Bottles
Pocket-watch Back accessory:
A character customisation item that I created for an event I worked on for Game Developer and Youtuber by the alias of "@GnomeCode"
His Youtube - @GnomeCode
His Website - Gnomecode.com
Model Statistics:
Vertices - 6,616
Edges - 12,944
Faces - 6,402
Triangles - 13,084
This was my second ever character accessory but the file for the original was lost due to corruption issues :(
Beginning of my Education:
This section shows my creations from the beginning my Games Design Course.
All of the creations below were made at the start of being professionally taught Blender 3D.
Challenges I faced at this stage were:
- Not being able to optimize my creations in blender.
- Forgetting some of the information I took in.
- Lack of self-confidence for my modelling ability.
Water gun recreation:
This is a recreation of my original super soaker water gun that I created using knowledge taught to me by a professional 3D Modeller.
Much more optimised but does still have room for improvements
Model Statistics:
Unfortunately I cannot track the statistics as it was created on a College Computer which I cannot access at the time of documentation
General Information:
The first scene was a very basic scene. I had never worked with perspective before in blender, or lighting.
The second scene was a more in-depth scene with actual texturing. It was created following the guidance of my lecturer
The third scene is an extension to the second scene but changed to work on things by myself, using what I learnt to try put additional assets into the scene in a way that feels natural.
Creation of Scenes:
The following show my progression in creating scenes, under the guidance of my Blender lecturer.
They are in order of creation.
Sinking of the Titanic Scene:
This is a recreation of my original RMS Titanic but as a sinking scene, I created this using knowledge taught to me by a professional 3D Modeller.
Much more optimised but does still have room for improvements
General Information:
Unfortunately I cannot track the statistics as it was created on a College Computer which I cannot access at the time of documentation
General Information:
The full scene took me two whole days to model. This was my first creation where I focused on trying to make it look real, and to an extent it holds up to that.
This was so above the quality of my prior creations that I was awarded a duck
(Ducks are worth "points" and reflect when a student does something exceptional or goes beyond their expectations)
Classroom Scene:
This is a recreation of my classroom on my Games Design course but 3D modelled.
How I went about making it:
I created a super basic block out of everything and one-by-one I modelled each piece of furniture and positioned them.
I then created some recreations of the posters on the wall as 2D images and placed them onto the placeholder posters.
I then threw some misc images onto the rest of the placeholders and tweaked the positioning of specific items to look better.
Kitchen Asset Pack
This is an asset pack I made of a general kitchen, I made it originally to be used in my Level Design Assignment
General Information:
Unfortunately I cannot track the statistics as it was created on a College Computer which I cannot access at the time of documentation
My creations today:
This section shows my creations as of now, using my new knowledge.
Challenges I currently face:
- Forgetting some of the information I took in.
- Lack of self-confidence for my modelling ability.
Revolver Gun:
This is my take on a super simple revolver gun
It isn't perfect but it has it's charms.
Model Statistics:
Vertices - 4,350
Edges - 10,483
Faces - 6,157
Triangles - 8,652
Model Statistics:
Fully rigged with bones.
Created using the mirror modifier tool, to cutdown on work needed!
Robot Character:
A simple robot tv-headed style character.
It is fully rigged but is yet to receive any animations.
Barn:
A simple and low-poly looking barn based on the classic interpretation of a barn in rural USA.
Designed to have a sort of cute style.
Model Statistics:
Vertices - 22,772
Edges - 43,760
Faces - 21,285
Triangles - 44,520
Model Statistics:
Vertices - 63,988
Edges - 122,530
Faces - 66,190
Triangles - 132,680
How it can be optimised: The spinny bit of the windmill could of been done with images instead of a 3D grate-pattern. This dide a huge blow.
Windmill:
A simple windmill based on the classic interpretation of a windmill
Designed to have a sort of cute style.
House Segment:
A segment of a house I created to test my ability to correctly scale my creations proportionately.
Model Statistics:
Vertices - 2.924
Edges - 5,584
Faces - 2,765
Triangles - 5,626
Decorated Room:
(for a series)
A room created in blender where everyday I add whatever the top comment on each day's video says to add.
General Information:
The images below show the evolution of a scene which depicts a room.
Every day I post a video to my Youtube where I allow the viewers to suggest what I add to the room on the next day. I take the most liked comment and add that.
