This page covers the progression of my coursework assignments and the a review for them all.
This was the first assignment I did on my Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Media (games design) course. The point of it is as simple as the title says. Each student had to pick a game they were, or were not, familiar with and make an unbiased analysis of it based on:
- Gameplay Mechanics → The mechanics behind the game itself as well as how the player physically plays the game.
- Level Design → How the world around the player is designed.
- Immersion → How the game immerses the player into it.
- Playability → How the game is playable through different circumstances.
- Accessibility → How the game is accessible under different circumstances.
Challenges:
For this assignment, there was a few small challenges. The biggest challenge I found myself facing was trying to be as unbiased as possible because to truly and thoroughly analyse a game, you must be as unbiased as possible. However, when your analysis
This was the second assignment I did on my Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Media (games design) course. The point of the assignment is to create an in depth story, based on:
- Story Summary → The basic summary of the story.
- Biographies → How the characters in the story are designed, with their overview.
- Plot Points → The seperate plots within the wider story and how they connect.
- Setting → Where the game is set and what the vibe of it all is.
- Audience → Who is this story intended for? Is there age guidelines?
This was the third assignment I did on my Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Media (games design) course. The point of this assignment was to design a fully finished level of a game and to document the creation process, based on:
- The level itself → Pretty self explanatory.
- Iteration → How the level's design changed through iterations.
- Data Collection → Collecting data from peers and 3d parties.
- Problem Solving → How problems were met and how they were solved.
- Inspiration → What inspired the level's design process?.
This was the fourth assignment I did on my Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Creative Media (games design) course. The point of this assignment was to plan a game out in depth as if I were pitching it to an investor or a games studio boss. This assignment is focused on building the skills of the behind the scenes work and preperation work for making a game, based on:
This assignment is a mixture and huge merge of every previous assignment all in one, except no game needs to be physically made for this one. It is essentially entry level to how to work on a game within the industry.
